Calamus — or the good herb — grows on the banks of rivers in the lowlands of Romania. Its aromatic root has been used since ancient times to support digestion and abdominal comfort, being a benchmark of traditional Romanian medicine.
At Spițeria Vraciului, Calamus Tincture is prepared according to the recipe of our founder, Elena Năstasă — with root harvested manually at the optimal time, when the concentration of essential oils and bitter principles is at its peak. The artisanal, slow maceration, in small controlled batches, completely extracts the bioactive compounds — the result is an extract with an aromatic and therapeutic density impossible to achieve industrially.

Calamus (Acorus calamus) is one of the oldest medicinal plants used in Europe and Asia.
