Goldenrod (Solidago virgaurea) — known in the West as "Golden Rod" — is one of the few medicinal plants with an official EMA/HMPC monograph for supporting the urinary tract. Documented in European pharmacopoeias for centuries and validated by modern research, Solidago virgaurea represents the reference choice in traditional phytotherapy for renal and urinary comfort.
At the Healer's Apothecary, aerial parts are hand-harvested at flowering — the moment when the concentration of triterpenic saponins, flavonoids, and diterpenes reaches its biological maximum. The 1:3 ratio (20g of plant to 100g of extract) ensures a therapeutic density that no commercial capsule or tea can match.
Why Solidago virgaurea is the reference plant for the urinary tract
- Official EMA/HMPC monograph — one of the few plants with formal European recognition for use in supporting the urinary tract
- Unique double action — diuretic and anti-inflammatory simultaneously, without straining the kidneys; increased urinary flow accompanied by mucosal protection
- Precisely calibrated 1:3 ratio — 20g of dried plant to 100g of extract, a concentration superior to industrially standardized products
- Intact phytochemical synergism — saponins, flavonoids, and diterpenes act together; separating or standardizing a single compound would destroy this synergy
Solidago virgaurea contains a rare and well-studied phytochemical profile, with compounds that act synergistically on the urinary tract, renal system, and the body's hydro-saline balance.
Recognized properties of Goldenrod (Solidago virgaurea) — EMA/HMPC
- Triterpenic saponins and flavonoids are officially recognized in the EMA/HMPC monograph for their diuretic properties — contributing to increased urinary flow and irrigation of the urinary tract
- Recognized anti-inflammatory properties at the level of the urinary tract — contributing to comfort during episodes of bladder irritation and lower urinary tract discomfort
- Diterpenes and flavonoids contribute to the antispasmodic properties and relaxation of the urinary tract musculature
- Recognized antioxidant properties — cellular protection of the renal and urinary epithelium against oxidative stress
- Contribution to the elimination of uric acid and toxins by increasing diuresis, supporting normal renal filtration function
- Traditionally used to support prostate function and male urinary comfort, as an adjuvant in discomfort associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia
💧 Diuresis and detoxification
EMA recognized diuretic action — increased urinary flow supports the natural elimination of toxins, uric acid, and excess fluids.
🫧 Urinary comfort
Recognized anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties — supporting the comfort of the lower urinary tract during episodes of irritation or discomfort.
🫁 Kidneys and filtration
Supporting normal renal filtration function and antioxidant protection of the renal epithelium through the complex of flavonoids and saponins.
♂ Prostate comfort
Traditionally used as an adjuvant to support male urinary comfort and normal prostate function.
🧂 Hydro-saline retention
Sustained diuresis naturally contributes to reducing water retention and maintaining normal hydro-electrolytic balance.
🛡️ Urinary protection
Optimal irrigation of the urinary tract through increased diuresis — supporting the natural defense of the urinary mucosa in recurrent episodes of discomfort.
💧 Method of administration — essential: abundant hydration
- 1Add 10–15 drops to a glass with 100 ml water and consume 3 times a day, before meals
- 2Drink at least 2 liters of water per day during the course — natural diuretics require adequate hydration for efficiency and safety
- 3Courses of 14–30 days with 10-day breaks; do not exceed 6 weeks without consulting a doctor
⚕ Attention — confirmed urinary infections
Confirmed bacterial cystitis, pyelonephritis, and other diagnosed urinary infections require antibiotic treatment prescribed by a doctor. RITA Remedy is an adjuvant supplement that supports urinary tract comfort and natural diuresis — it does not replace antibiotics. Fever, intense lower back pain, hematuria (blood in urine), or worsening symptoms require urgent medical consultation.
Contraindications and precautions
- Do not administer to pregnant or breastfeeding women

- People on diuretic medication should consult a doctor — the effect may be potentiated
- Do not administer to people allergic to plants from the Asteraceae family (Solidago, chamomile, arnica, calendula)
- Ensure abundant hydration (min. 2L water/day) during the course — mandatory for the safe use of natural diuretics
- Stop administration if intense lower back pain, fever, or blood in urine occurs and consult a doctor urgently
- Do not exceed the recommended daily dose · Keep out of reach of children
