The sacred plant of Antiquity for deep cleansing of the body

Artemisia absinthium — called in Romanian tradition Maidenhair Herb or Wormwood — is considered in traditional global phytotherapy as one of the most powerful plants with vermifuge and depurative action. Ancient Greeks dedicated it to the goddess Artemis; in medieval European medicine, it was an essential ingredient in any deworming protocol; and in Romanian phytotherapy, it was used with respect and moderation, knowing that its power also requires prudence.

At The Healer's Apothecary, Maidenhair Herb is hand-harvested from Romania's wild flora, at the optimal time, and slowly macerated in quality medicinal alcohol in a 1:5 ratio — a concentration that respects tradition and, at the same time, the doses recommended by modern phytotherapy.

What makes this extract different

  • Wild plant, not cultivated — Artemisia from Romania's wild flora has a higher concentration of absinthe than industrially cultivated varieties
  • Precisely calibrated 1:5 ratio — 20g of dried plant per 100g of extract, for therapeutic efficacy without excess
  • Cold, slow maceration — preserves absinthin, anabsinthin, and azulene intact, compounds sensitive to high temperatures
  • Limited, individually verified batch — Artemisia absinthium requires special attention in processing; we do not mass produce
The bioactive complex of Artemisia

Artemisia absinthium contains a rare and complex phytochemical profile, with compounds that act synergistically on the digestive tract, intestinal parasites, and liver function.

Traditionally recognized properties of Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium)

  • Absinthin and anabsinthin are sesquiterpene lactones recognized in traditional phytotherapy for their vermifuge properties — they contribute to disrupting the favorable environment for the survival of intestinal parasites
  • Thujone (essential oil) has recognized antimicrobial properties and contributes to supporting the balance of intestinal flora and reducing bacterial overgrowth
  • Azulene formed during distillation has recognized anti-inflammatory properties — it helps calm and regenerate the intestinal lining after episodes of irritation
  • Organic acids (malic, succinic) support the activation of liver function and stimulate bile production, with a direct effect on lipid digestion and detoxification
  • Traditionally used since Antiquity for periodic deworming, liver detoxification, and restoring appetite and slow digestion
  • Recognized in European phytotherapy (HMPC/EMA monograph for Artemisia absinthium) for supporting digestive comfort and hepato-biliary function
🐛 Deworming

Absinthin disrupts the environment favorable to intestinal parasites — traditionally documented use for millennia, from the Greeks to modern phytotherapy.

🦠 Microbial balance

Contribution to reducing intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and restoring the balance of digestive flora.

🫀 Liver function

Organic acids and sesquiterpenes support the natural activation of the liver and stimulate bile flow for optimal digestion.

🌿 Intestinal mucosa

Azulene helps soothe inflammation of the intestinal lining and supports regeneration after episodes of irritation or infestation.

🧹 Deep detoxification

Complex depurative action — supporting the elimination of accumulated toxins with visible effects on energy and mental clarity.

🍽️ Digestion and appetite

Recognized bitter-tonic properties — stimulating gastric secretion, restoring appetite, and combating slow digestion.

Essential medical information

⚕ Potent plant — follow doses and duration

Artemisia absinthium is a plant with intense action, requiring strict adherence to doses and treatment duration. Do not exceed the recommended dose and do not prolong the treatment beyond 30 days without medical consultation. Confirmed parasitic infestations (giardiasis, taeniasis) require medical diagnosis and, depending on severity, prescribed antiparasitic treatment. The remedy does not replace medicinal treatment for severe infestations.

Contraindications and precautions

  • Not to be administered to pregnant or breastfeeding women — Artemisia absinthium has documented abortifacient potential
  • Not to be administered to children under 18 years of age
  • Not to be administered to individuals with epilepsy or other neurological conditions — thujone can be proconvulsant in high doses
  • Do not exceed the recommended dose and do not prolong the treatment beyond 30 days without medical consultation
