Celandine — the liver plant — has been recognized in European phytotherapy for over two millennia. Its yellow-orange latex inspired the popular name "golden herb". Traditionally used both externally and internally, it is a pillar of our inherited recipes.
At The Witch Doctor's Dispensary, Celandine Tincture is prepared according to the recipe of our founder, Elena Năstasă — with plant hand-harvested during peak flowering, when the concentration of alkaloids (chelidonine, berberine) and organic acids reaches its highest. It is one of the few products in our range with dual use — internal for liver support, external for natural skin regeneration.
Why our tincture is unmatched by off-the-shelf products
- Dual use: internal + external — a single tincture covers both internal hepato-biliary support and skin regeneration with topical application
- 30% plant extract concentration — optimal proportion ensuring a high density of alkaloids and active principles
- Hand-harvested at flowering time — only the plant at its optimal stage, when the yellow latex is richest in bioactive compounds
- Family recipe passed down through generations — the proportions and method have been refined by founder Elena Năstasă over decades of phytotherapeutic practice
- 500 ml — economical format for long courses — sufficient for both daily internal use and external applications during the course
Celandine (Chelidonium majus) contains a unique complex of isoquinoline alkaloids (chelidonine, coptisine, berberine, sanguinarine), organic acids (chelidonic, malic, citric), flavonoids, and carotenoids. This bioactive profile provides a dual action: internal — hepatoprotective, choleretic, and antispasmodic for bile; external — keratolytic and supporting natural skin regeneration.
Recognized traditional properties
- Internal use: Traditionally used to support normal liver function — documented hepatoprotective and choleretic properties in European phytotherapy
- Internal use: Contributes to maintaining normal bile function — supports bile production and excretion, facilitating lipid digestion
- Internal use: Antispasmodic properties for bile ducts — helps calm spasms and promote hepato-biliary comfort
- External use: Traditionally used to support natural skin regeneration processes — mild keratolytic action traditionally recognized
- External use: Latex and alkaloids have local antiseptic properties — support natural skin protection in affected areas
- Berberine and chelidonine provide anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties in liver tissue
🫀 Liver Protection
Supports normal liver function — hepatoprotective alkaloids contribute to the regeneration and protection of liver cells.
💛 Bile Function
Choleretic and cholagogue properties — stimulates bile production and excretion for optimal lipid digestion.
😌 Biliary Comfort
Antispasmodic action on the bile ducts — calms spasms and discomfort in the hepato-biliary area.
✨ Skin Regeneration
External use: supports natural skin regeneration processes — traditionally recognized keratolytic action.
🛡️ Local Antiseptic
External use: natural alkaloids provide antiseptic protection — support the natural healing of affected skin.
🧬 Hepatic Antioxidant
Berberine and flavonoids protect liver cells against oxidative stress and degenerative processes.
💧 Internal Use — liver and bile
- 1Take 20 drops, twice a day
- 2Dissolve in a complementary herbal tea or take simply with a little water
- 3Courses of 30 days with a one-week break; minimum 3 months for stable results
🩹 External Use — skin regeneration
- 1Soak a compress in the tincture
- 2Gently dab on the affected area
- 3Apply 2–3 times a day until visible improvement
💡 Recommended combination
For optimal internal use results, we recommend dissolving the drops in a complementary herbal tea from The Witch Doctor's Dispensary. The combination enhances the hepatoprotective action and ensures optimal liver hydration during the detoxification course.
⚕ Attention — strict dosage and liver conditions
Do not exceed the recommended dose — in large quantities, Celandine can cause digestive irritation. The alkaloids in Chelidonium majus are potent and require strict adherence to dosage. Individuals with diagnosed liver conditions, hepatitis, cirrhosis, or gallstones must consult a gastroenterologist or hepatologist before use. Celandine Tincture is an auxiliary dietary supplement and does not replace medicinal treatment.
Contraindications and precautions
- Do not exceed the recommended dose — overdose causes digestive irritation
- Do not administer during pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Does not replace medicinal treatment prescribed by a doctor
- Do not administer to persons with intolerance to any of the product's components
- Do not administer to persons for whom alcohol consumption is strictly forbidden
- Caution in persons with severe liver conditions — alkaloids can overexert an already affected liver
- For external use, first test on a small skin area to check tolerance
- Discontinue administration upon appearance of any adverse reactions and consult a doctor
- Keep out of reach and sight of small children
